ABOUT ME AND MY THERAPY PRACTICE
Melanie Dale
My name’s Melanie Dale, an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor working with children, teenagers, and adults. I specialise in supporting young people, helping them cope with challenges such as anxiety, low mood, panic attacks, anger, and worries about school, friendships, or everyday pressures.
I use different approaches to suit each person, always focusing on creating a safe and supportive space that encourages openness and trust.
For children and teenagers struggling with anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem, my role is to listen, understand, guide, and encourage confidence, resilience, and healthier ways forward in everyday life.
My Approach
My approach to counselling is warm, supportive, and always centred on the needs of each person. I believe every individual deserves a space where they can be heard without judgement and begin to understand themselves more clearly.
I draw on a range of methods, choosing what feels most helpful for each situation. Sometimes this means focusing on feelings and relationships, while at other times it involves practical strategies to manage anxiety, stress, or low mood.
The aim of my work is to build trust, encourage resilience, and help clients develop healthier ways of coping. By working together with care and understanding, positive change becomes possible for children, teenagers, and adults seeking guidance in their everyday lives.
My First Session
During the first session, I will take time to get to know you and complete a short assessment together. If you feel comfortable, I will also explain the counselling agreement, which you can take away and return at the next session. I will then begin exploring the issues you would like support with.
The first session is chargeable, and I offer both short-term and long-term counselling depending on individual needs and personal circumstances.

What I can help with
I can support you with anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma, anger, and relationship issues. I also help with challenges linked to ADHD, autism, OCD, phobias, self-harm, and other emotional or behavioural difficulties that may affect you or your child.

Types of therapy
I use a flexible approach by drawing on therapies such as CBT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Person Centred, and Integrative methods. This means your sessions are tailored to your needs, offering support that feels most relevant, helpful, and practical for you.

Clients I work with
I work with children, teenagers, young people, adults, and older adults. My role is to provide you or your child with a safe, confidential space where personal challenges can be explored, understood, and managed with care, guidance, and respect.

How I deliver therapy
I offer both short-term and long-term counselling. Your sessions can take place face to face, online, or by telephone. This flexibility ensures you can access support in the way that feels most comfortable, accessible, and convenient for your situation.
